The Egyptian Amateur Open is one of the oldest Championships
in the Middle East and Africa. First held in 1920, it carries over 105 years of
history and remains a symbol of Egyptian and Arab golf.
Omar Hisham Talaat, President of the Egyptian Golf Federation, said the 2025 edition marks a new beginning for golf in Egypt and the Arab world. He highlighted that the Championship’s return after a fifteen-year absence reflects determination and ambition to develop the sport and strengthen its regional and international standing.
During his speech at Wednesday evening’s opening ceremony, Talaat added that this edition joins the Arab Golf Series. The regional platform brings together the top players in the Arab world and provides more opportunities for competition and development. He described this step as a key part of the shared vision to elevate Arab golf and expand the base of professional players.
