Madbouly reviews economic cost of hosting refugees, migrants in Egypt

Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, held a meeting today to review details of assessing the economic cost related to the number of refugees and migrants residing in Egypt.

The meeting was attended by Rania Al Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs, Adnan Fangary, Minister of Justice, Major General Khairat Barakat, Head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, Ali El Sisi, Assistant Minister of Finance for Public Budget Affairs, along with officials from relevant ministries and authorities.

Madbouly emphasized the importance of continuing coordination with international organizations to secure the necessary support for refugees residing in Egypt, particularly in light of the services provided by the government to these guests living in the country.

He highlighted the efforts undertaken by concerned authorities during the past period to assess the burdens borne by the Egyptian state in providing the necessary care for guests residing in Egypt. He also referred to all communications conducted with relevant international bodies to secure the required support aimed at easing the burden on the Egyptian government.

Abdelatty reviewed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ efforts with United Nations organizations during the past period to provide the necessary support for guests residing in Egypt.

Morsy outlined the Ministry of Social Solidarity’s efforts to follow up on procedures for the accurate enumeration of migrants and refugees, in accordance with internationally recognized standards, in cooperation with United Nations organizations.

Al Mashat pointed to the experiences of other countries in receiving international support to alleviate the burdens associated with hosting migrants and refugees.
