The Egyptian delegation comprised Engineer Salah Abdel Karim, CEO of the General Petroleum Authority; Dr. Samir Raslan, Deputy Minister for Agreements and Exploration and Egypt's OAPEC Executive Bureau representative; and Engineer Moataz Atef, Deputy Minister for the Minister's Office, Technical Office, and Spokesperson.
The meeting concluded with a
decision to restructure and reformulate the Organization of Arab Petroleum
Exporting Countries (OAPEC), culminating in its renaming to the "Arab
Energy Organization (AEO)." This decision, as outlined in the final statement,
empowers the OAPEC General Secretariat to spearhead the development of the
organization's enhanced operations.
The first phase of this
comprehensive restructuring, encompassing proposed amendments to the founding
agreement, has received approval. These substantive amendments will become
effective upon the receipt of necessary legal approvals from all member states.
The OAPEC General Secretariat emphasized that this significant organizational transformation stems from a proposal originally submitted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
