El-Sisi directs urgent funding to finalize Decent Life phase I

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi presided over a high-level meeting today, Tuesday, to expedite the completion of Phase I of the Presidential Initiative "Decent Life" (Hayah Karima). The President issued directives to secure all necessary funding to finalize remaining works, ensuring immediate service delivery to millions of Egyptian citizens.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly and a ministerial committee including the ministers of Planning, International Cooperation, Military Production, Local Development, Social Solidarity, and Housing. Also in attendance were senior leadership from the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, the Financial Affairs Department of the Armed Forces, and the Arab Organization for Industrialization.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, Spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that the meeting focused on the executive status of Phase I, which serves as a global benchmark for rural economic and urban development.

Phase I Key Statistics: Scope: 20 governorates, 52 districts, and 1,477 villages.

Beneficiaries: Approximately 20 million citizens.

Projects: Total of 27,332 projects spanning infrastructure and social services.

Completion Rate: Current average execution has reached 90%.

The review covered the rollout of critical infrastructure, including integrated sewage and drinking water systems, power grids, and telecommunications. Discussions also touched upon engineering works for the transport sector, road networks, and the establishment of essential security and community service centers.

President El-Sisi emphasized the need for rigorous follow-up to resolve any logistical or administrative bottlenecks. He underscored that the completion of these projects within the specified timelines is a national priority to maximize the immediate benefit for rural communities.

The President also reviewed preparations for Phase II of the initiative, which aims to expand the project’s reach and depth.

Phase II Outlook: Target Area: 20 governorates and 204 local units.

Project Volume: Approximately 14,500 new projects.

Current Status: Initial works have already commenced in 245 villages.

Priority Sectors: Natural gas connectivity, fiber-optic telecommunications, and the construction of medical centers and ambulance units to support the Universal Health Insurance system, alongside new educational facilities.

President El-Sisi concluded by mandating that Phase II adhere to the highest international standards of performance and execution, building on the successes and lessons learned from the initiative’s first phase.
