The bilateral talks focused on exchanging technical expertise and expanding collaborative efforts in the mining, oil, and gas sectors between the two nations.
Minister Badawi highlighted Egypt’s recent rapid
advancements in mineral resource management, designed to unlock high-yield
investment opportunities. He noted that the restructuring of the Egyptian
Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA) into an economic entity has significantly
streamlined licensing and accelerated investment cycles.
Furthermore, the Minister showcased the launch of the first
comprehensive aerial and seismic survey in 40 years, a move intended to
modernize Egypt’s geological database and provide investors with high-fidelity
exploration data.
The discussions built upon the Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) signed last year between Egypt and Oman. Minister Badawi praised Oman’s
advanced standing in the mining sector, particularly following the completion
of its own nationwide aerial surveys, and expressed interest in aligning
strategies for the optimal exploitation of raw mineral materials.
A major pillar of the meeting was the expansion of Egyptian
specialized companies within the Omani energy market. Key developments include
infrastructure execution a continued project delivery by Enppi and Petrojet in
the Omani oil and gas sectors.
The developemnts include the official registration of the Egyptian
Drilling Company (EDC) to participate in well-drilling and workover tenders
within the Sultanate, as well as exploring further participation for Egyptian
firms in Omani infrastructure tenders to foster regional energy integration.
The meeting was attended by Geologist Yasser Ramadan, Chairman of the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA), underscoring the technical weight of the partnership.
