Mahmoud Kamal, Chairman of the TBGIH Board of Directors, stated that the establishment of Pay Cargo Egypt as an innovative digital platform combines an electronic application and a web system to manage and execute shipping and clearance payments. This initiative aims to accelerate the cargo release cycle, reduce reliance on cash transactions, and boost the financial efficiency of the Egyptian market.
He confirmed that the platform seeks to offer a unified
digital solution for importers, exporters, and shipping companies across all
transport modes, including sea, air, land freight, and customs clearance.
According to Kamal, the platform allows for the settlement
of all shipping and clearance-related payments on a single interface. It also
provides certified digital invoices, a complete financial record for every
shipment, real-time tracking of payment status, and accurate financial reports
for companies.
"Pay Cargo Egypt constitutes a vital step in supporting
the Egyptian economy," Kamal said. "It serves the foreign trade
sector, enhances transparency and financial governance, helps reduce errors and
procedural delays, and supports the state's strategy for digital transformation
and financial inclusion."
He revealed that the shipping sector faces several operational
challenges, including multiple payment destinations (shipping lines, transport,
customs brokers), non-uniform payment procedures, delayed cargo release due to
late payments, absence of a centralized platform for payment tracking, and high
operational and financial risks.
Pay Cargo Egypt addresses these issues by offering a unified
electronic payment solution for all shipping and clearance fees. The platform
primarily targets shipping and logistics companies, importers, exporters,
shipping agents, airlines, land transport companies, and customs brokers.
The project's revenue model is diversified, based on a
commission on each payment transaction, monthly subscriptions for large
corporations, premium services (reporting, system integration, API access), and
partnerships with banks and payment service providers.
Looking ahead, Pay Cargo Egypt aims for future expansion by
integrating with relevant government systems, collaborating with local and
international banks, expanding into Middle Eastern and African countries, and
offering freight financing services.
Pay Cargo Egypt represents a strategic move to modernize digital payments in the shipping sector, leveraging TBGIH's extensive experience in logistics and international trade. Kamal concluded that it serves as an innovative model contributing to Egypt's goals for digital transformation and financial inclusion.
