According to the Ministry, the Media Center noted that since its opening, the museum has witnessed a remarkable turnout from both Egyptian and foreign visitors, reflecting the significant interest in this unique cultural project. The average daily number of visitors has reached 15,000, which aligns with the museum's maximum capacity and density management across various visit times.
The Ministry indicated that, starting December 1, an exclusive
electronic ticketing system was implemented for entry and visits to the museum,
discontinuing direct ticket sales at on-site booths. This measure is intended
to regulate the flow of visitors within the museum's capacity, ensure smooth
entry and exit, maintain visitor comfort and safety, enhance the quality of the
tourist experience, and safeguard the archaeological collections.
The Media Center confirmed that bookings are made
exclusively through the GEM's official website (https://gem.eg) according to defined time slots. The museum
management continuously monitors the e-booking system to ensure its efficiency
and smooth operation. The system is reported to be functioning flawlessly without
any technical faults, with continuous follow-up to guarantee the best level of
service.
Regarding the difference in ticket prices for Egyptians
versus foreigners, the statement explained that this system has been in effect for
many years across all Egyptian museums and archaeological sites. This policy
reflects the State's commitment to ensuring that ticket prices for Egyptians
are commensurate with the national average income, allowing the widest possible
segment of citizens to visit museums, archaeological sites, and learn about
their ancient history and civilization.
The Ministry also addressed minor issues related to the
museum's exterior and reports of rainwater seepage. Simple maintenance issues
concerning some external flooring were noted as resulting from the preparations
and decorations installed for the opening ceremonies. Work is currently
underway to repair these issues under the agreement with the company that
executed the opening ceremony, following a defined, phased timeline and
adhering to approved technical standards. This ensures no disruption to visitor
traffic or experience, and all elements will be restored to their original
condition.
The Media Center clarified that the Grand Hall's design incorporates an architectural vision featuring geometric ceiling openings. This design allows for the sustainable entry of natural light and ventilation, a fundamental element of the museum's architecture. Therefore, the seepage of limited amounts of rainwater into the hall during heavy rainfall is consistent with the design and expected during this time of year.
