Egypt, South Korea deepen economic, technological cooperation

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen the distinguished bilateral relations with South Korea across all fields. He highlighted economic, investment, cultural, and educational sectors and praised the South Korean development experience.

During his talks with his South Korean counterpart, Lee Jae Myung, who is visiting Cairo, the President expressed Egypt’s aspiration to expand the operations and investments of Korean companies in various priority sectors. He highlighted communications and information technology, automotive manufacturing, shipbuilding, artificial intelligence, petrochemicals, and mining, with a focus on localizing these industries within Egypt.

The President also highlighted the guarantees, investment incentives, and competitive advantages offered by Egypt to the market.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that the President began the meeting by welcoming his guest on his first visit to Egypt since assuming office in June 2025. The visit coincides with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Myung expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, emphasizing South Korea’s commitment to developing cooperation with Egypt across all fields, both at the governmental level and through the activities of Korean companies in the Egyptian market.

He also praised Egypt’s achievements over the past decade, most recently the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
