Japan hails New East Port Said car trading station

Egypt has completed the construction of its first dedicated car handling terminal at East Port Said, a move designed to meet growing domestic automotive demand and boost exports to Europe and the Mediterranean, the Japanese Embassy in Cairo announced.

The facility, built to handle increasing local imports, as well as transshipment and export volume, was inaugurated on November 16.

The terminal is a joint establishment and operation involving Japan's Toyota Tsusho and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), alongside France's AGL (Africa Global Logistics).

The new facility features a berth capable of simultaneously accommodating two large car carriers and is equipped with specialized handling equipment and internationally trained staff.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi presided over the opening ceremony, attended by several top Egyptian ministers and a Japanese delegation, including Ambassador Fumio Iwai and officials from Toyota Tsusho and NYK.

The embassy stated that the trilateral cooperation between Egypt, Japan, and France is expected to significantly expand automotive logistics services and benefit the operating Japanese and French companies. Japan affirmed its commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial economic relations with Egypt.
