Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between local pharmaceutical company MinaPharm and Germany's Bayer to localize the drug manufacturing industry in the field of women's and reproductive health.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the third edition of the Global Conference on Population, Health, and Development (PHDC'25), held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The conference runs from November 12 to 15, 2025, under the theme "Empowering Individuals, Enhancing Progress, Providing Opportunities."

Minister Abdel Ghaffar emphasized that the agreement is a pivotal step towards strengthening drug security, providing high-tech medications, and transferring expertise. He highlighted Egypt's position as a regional hub for manufacturing and export, supported by presidential directives to attract global investments.

He further clarified that technology transfer is a fundamental pillar, expressing confidence in the national capabilities of MinaPharm and the global expertise of Bayer to advance Egypt's industrial infrastructure.

For his part, Dr. Wafik El Bardissy, Chairman of MinaPharm, affirmed that the partnership would boost industry localization, expand exports to regional and African markets, and support the national health policy.

Dr. Klaus Runge, Vice President of Bayer, underscored Egypt's strategic importance in the supply chain. He stressed that the partnership will support self-sufficiency, the localization of essential medicines, and the construction of a sustainable healthcare system.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Presidential Adviser for Health Affairs, Dr. Hesham Steit, Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement (AUP), and Dr. Ali El Ghamrawy, Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA).
