Egypt’s agricultural exports rise to 8.2 million tons

Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk stated that Egyptian agricultural exports have reached nearly 8.2 million tons so far this year. He added that the figure reflects a significant increase of about 650,000 tons compared to last year.

Farouk received this data in an official report submitted by Dr. Mohamed El Mansi, Head of the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine within the Agricultural Services and Follow up Sector. The report outlined the key indicators and ongoing progress of Egypt’s agricultural exports.

The report confirmed that Egyptian citrus fruits continue to lead the export list with a total of about 2 million tons. Fresh potatoes followed with 1.3 million tons. Beans ranked third with 283,000 tons. Sweet potatoes came fourth with 280,000 tons. Fresh onions ranked fifth with 268,000 tons.

The report also highlighted the growth of several other Egyptian crops. Grapes recorded total exports of 190,000 tons. Pomegranates followed with 110,000 tons. Mangoes reached 104,000 tons. Fresh tomatoes, garlic, strawberries, and guavas followed in the ranking.

Farouk stated that these figures reflect international recognition of Egypt’s success in boosting the competitiveness of its exports. He added that the country maintains full compliance with global quality standards. He explained that Egyptian produce enjoys strong confidence in international markets. This strengthens Egypt’s position as an agricultural producer and contributes to supporting the national economy and attracting foreign currency.

He expressed his appreciation to all parties within the export system, especially farmers, producers, and exporters. He emphasized that this progress is the result of effective cooperation and continuous efforts by engineers, researchers, agricultural quarantine personnel, agricultural relations teams, and central reference laboratories. Their work includes strict monitoring of shipments, resolving obstacles, and ensuring the quality of Egyptian agricultural exports to open additional export markets.
