Hisham Talaat Moustafa: GEM to boost tourism

Hisham Talaat Moustafa, CEO and Managing Director of Talaat Moustafa Group Holding (TMG), affirmed that the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) represents a qualitative leap for Egypt. He said that the GEM will have a major impact on the growth of the tourism sector. He added that tourism is one of the most important pillars of the Egyptian economy. He stated that this impact will produce tremendous benefits for the Egyptian economy.

Moustafa said in a telephone interview with TV host Amr Adib on the El Hekaya program on MBC Masr that a great renaissance is taking place in Egypt in the tourism sector. He added that a renaissance is also underway in the construction of major roads over the past three or four years. He described these roads as having moved Egypt to a completely different level. He highlighted the tremendous effort invested in this prestigious museum. He said that the museum rivals the world’s greatest museums and contains major artifacts that are not available anywhere else.

He added that the GEM will significantly strengthen the influx of tourists interested in cultural aspects to Egypt. He said that visitors will come to experience this unique museum.

He said that there is also a renaissance in the development of hotels in Egypt. He said that this is especially the case with historic hotels. He said that TMG has been honored to participate in this development since early February 2024. He stated that the company is undertaking a complete renovation of the Mena House Palace. He added that the project aims to restore the palace to its former glory of one hundred years ago. He added that there is also the Four Seasons Hotel near the museum. He stated that this hotel will be an iconic landmark. He added that the hotel will allow residents and visitors to walk easily to the Egyptian Museum.

Moustafa said that there is also development underway in Luxor and Aswan. He stated that international brands are being developed for historic hotels. He added that this will attract distinctive types of international tourism. He stated that this development will increase Egypt’s revenue from the tourism product. He added that this will have a positive impact on foreign currency reserves inside Egypt.

He stated that a renaissance is indeed taking place in Egypt. He said that the area that has been developed from the museum to the pyramids, along with the opening and improvement of roads in that region, is placing Egypt in a completely different place.
