Drug Authority Chief seals landmark international pharma partnership

Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), witnessed the official signing of a strategic partnership agreement between the Egyptian company Dawaa Holding International (in which the Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals holds a stake), the American company Dawah Pharma LLC, and the Qatari-German Company for Medical Devices (QG Medical Devices).

The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Public Business Sector headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, attended by Engineer Mohamed Shimi, Minister of Public Business Sector, and Dr. Hisham Stait, Head of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement and Medical Supply, alongside the chairmen of the three companies.

This alliance is part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance cooperation between Arab and foreign expertise in industrial investment, healthcare, and the pharmaceutical and medical supplies industries. The goal is to establish an integrated production and supply system both within and outside Egypt, while supporting scientific and medical progress in the Arab region.

Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy affirmed that the EDA is a strategic partner and key driver in implementing the state's vision. The partnership reflects the state's commitment to supporting local manufacturing and localizing the medical supplies industry. He highlighted that the EDA provides an attractive and stimulating regulatory environment for investment in the pharmaceutical sector. He stressed that localizing the medical supplies industry is a crucial pillar for enhancing drug security and confirmed the EDA's work is integrated with various state institutions to build a strong national industry capable of meeting local market needs and competing regionally and internationally.

Engineer Mohamed Shimi stated that the agreement represents a significant step towards localizing modern medical technology, emphasizing the state's efforts to transform Egypt into a regional hub for pharmaceutical and medical supplies manufacturing targeting African and Arab markets. The Minister explained that the agreement aligns with Egypt Vision 2030 to promote advanced industrial investment and enhance national and regional health security, thereby boosting the competitiveness of Egyptian and Arab products in global markets.

Dr. Hisham Stait affirmed that the agreement is a step towards establishing a unified Arab system for medical supply and pharmaceutical manufacturing. He noted that the cooperation among the three parties ensures the availability of medicines and medical supplies at competitive prices and global quality standards, reinforcing regional health security.

Dr. Hossam Abdelmaksoud, Chairman and CEO of Dawah Pharma LLC, said: "We are not just signing a commercial agreement; we are establishing a genuine Arab-international alliance in healthcare. This partnership reflects our deep belief in the Arab region's capability to lead industrial and medical transformation globally, and it will pave the way for joint manufacturing projects and exchange of expertise that positions our region in a leadership role."

Fahad Abdulla Malik, Vice Chairman of QG Medical Devices, added: "This partnership opens new horizons for cooperation between Qatar, Egypt, and the United States in advanced healthcare fields. We believe that the integration among the three parties will bring about a qualitative leap in the Arab medical industry and enable our products to compete in global markets."

The signing ceremony concluded with an affirmation that this partnership represents a strategic and developmental alliance striving to achieve the concept of "Health Without Borders" through industrial and scientific projects extending to Africa and the Arab region, consistent with Egypt Vision 2030 and reinforcing Egypt's role as a regional hub for manufacturing and exporting high-quality medicines and medical devices.
