PM Madbouly: No power cuts despite regional tensions

Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, confirmed that the government is taking all scenarios into account in the event that the current conflict between Israel and Iran escalates.

Madbouly told reporters at the conclusion of his visit to Beheira Governorate on Saturday that the government is committed to its pledge to ensure no power outages during the summer. He noted that Egypt's current gas reserves are double those of last year. He explained that Egypt had one Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) last year, and a plan has been implemented to operate three FSRUs this year to accommodate the increase in electricity demand and improve the capacity of power plants. However, in a message to citizens, Madbouly said, "An important part of what is required is rationalization. We are all in the same boat, and we urge everyone to use electricity wisely."

Madbouly stressed that Egypt's position on the current situation is clear: it condemns the Israeli military operations against Iran, this escalation, and the bilateral conflict that is likely to extend to the region.
