Engineer Mohamed Shimi, Minister of the Public Business Sector, held an expanded meeting with the CEOs of the Holding Companies for Metallurgical Industries, affiliated with the Ministry of Public Business Sector.

Shimi stressed that the metallurgical industries sector represents a key pillar in supporting local industry and the national economy. He stressed the importance of adhering to project implementation timelines, doubling efforts to improve financial performance and increase economic returns, and the need to implement best management practices and enhance governance, while improving product quality and modernizing production lines with the latest technologies.

He pointed out the importance of increasing operational efficiency and expanding the export base, which would contribute to increasing the market share of national products in local and international markets. He added that digital transformation and the implementation of modern management systems are top priorities for increasing productivity. He also emphasized the need to continue developing factory infrastructure in line with technical and technological modernization plans, which enhances companies' competitiveness and increases their ability to meet market needs.

The meeting reviewed the companies' financial and production performance indicators, the status of partnerships with the private sector, and attracting investment to available opportunities. It also reviewed the latest developments and progress of development projects aimed at increasing production capacity, maximizing added value, and introducing new products. These projects included aluminum, copper, steel, mining, automotive, ferroalloys, glass, pipes, and refractories. The meeting followed the Minister's tour of the Egyptian Copper Company's factories in the El Tebbin area, attended by Engineer Tarek El-Hadidi, Chairman of the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries, Engineer Mohamed El-Saadawi, Executive Managing Director of the Holding Company, and a number of Ministry leaders.

The Minister stressed the importance of strengthening partnerships with the private sector and localizing technology, within the framework of national goals aimed at supporting local industry, substituting imports, and expanding into foreign markets, thus contributing to the country's foreign exchange resources and achieving sustainable industrial development.
