El-Sisi declares November 1 official holiday

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed that Saturday, November 1, 2025, be an official holiday across Egypt. The directive came during a meeting held today with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, and Mohamed El-Saadi, Board Member of the United Media Services Company and General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) opening ceremony. The meeting reviewed the ongoing preparations for the major celebration marking the museum’s opening, scheduled for November 1.

El-Homsani, Official Spokesman for the Cabinet, said that, in implementation of the President’s directives, Prime Minister Madbouly decided that Saturday, November 1, 2025, will be an official paid holiday. The decision applies to employees in ministries, government agencies, public authorities, and local administration units. It also covers workers in public sector and public business sector companies.

He added that the decision aims to facilitate the work of state authorities in organizing the movements of foreign delegations participating in the grand celebration of this major national event. He noted that a large number of kings, heads of state, senior officials, and prominent international figures are expected to attend.

El-Homsani said that the holiday will also allow Egyptians to follow the highly anticipated opening ceremony of the GEM, which is attracting worldwide attention.
