Egyptian expat remittances up 47.2% in 8 months

Remittances from Egyptians working abroad saw a sharp rise in the first eight months of the year, hitting a record $26.6 billion between January and August 2025, the central bank announced Thursday.
The figure represents a 47.2 percent increase from the $18.1
billion recorded in the same period a year earlier.
On a monthly basis, remittances grew by 32.6 percent in
August 2025 to register about $3.5 billion, up from the approximately $2.6
billion transferred in August 2024.
