Egypt produces 1.5 billion chickens, 14 billion eggs annually

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced today, Saturday, that Egypt's poultry industry is a cornerstone of animal protein provision. A ministry report highlighted the sector's unprecedented state support and continuous development, noting it provides over 3.5 million jobs and produces over 1.5 billion chickens and 14 billion eggs annually.

Ahmed Ibrahim, the ministry's media advisor, stated that the poultry sector has successfully met rising demand without shortages. He emphasized a notable production increase during past seasons, holidays, and the holy month of Ramadan to satisfy heightened consumption, particularly of poultry.

Ramadan saw a significant surge in poultry consumption due to meals, gatherings, and Egypt's aid to Gaza, which included poultry. This seasonal demand necessitates early production scaling, Ibrahim explained, adding that the state provides comprehensive technical, financial, and logistical support to the poultry industry, addressing any challenges faced by producers, following directives from Minister Alaa Farouk and Deputy Minister Mustafa El-Sayyad.
