Agriculture Ministry issues 385 licenses for livestock, poultry projects

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, represented by the Animal and Poultry Development Sector, announced the issuance of approximately 385 operating licenses during the first half of October. These include new and renewed licenses for all livestock, poultry, and feed activities and projects, as well as milk collection centers.

Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, received a report from Dr. Tarek Soliman, Head of the Animal and Poultry Development Sector, highlighting the sector’s key activities during this period.

Dr. Soliman stated that the initiative follows directives from Minister Farouk and Deputy Minister Moustafa El-Sayyad to remove obstacles while adhering to regulations and standards. The efforts aim to facilitate licensing procedures for livestock, poultry, and feed projects. They also ensure compliance with biosecurity and safety standards. The ministry supports feed mixture registration according to standard specifications and provides all necessary technical assistance to achieve optimal performance. These measures also aim to encourage exports and increase production for foreign markets.

Soliman confirmed that 98 permits were issued for small-scale livestock breeders, in full compliance with biosecurity and safety requirements. The General Authority for Veterinary Services participated in overseeing these activities.

He added that approval was granted for registering 346 feed mixtures, additives, and concentrates. Among them, 261 were local and 85 were imported. Registration followed scientific standards and was conducted in partnership with the Regional Center for Food and Feed and the Animal Production Research Institute. Four technical approvals were also granted to establish new poultry projects in the desert hinterland, following preventive and biosecurity requirements.

He emphasized the ongoing technical support and homogeneity tests at 16 feed factories with 28 production lines for poultry, livestock, and fish. This preparation ensures that operating licenses are issued for feed production that meets standard specifications and achieves high performance across multiple governorates.

The Ministry of Agriculture also approved the export of fish feed, feed additives, poultry products, and frozen poultry, including quail, duck, pigeon, and turkey, to various Arab and international markets.

Dr. Soliman explained that applications for automated operating licenses are now available through digital platforms. These include the ministry’s official website, the Egypt Digital Platform, and government mobile applications. This system simplifies the process of submitting applications and obtaining licenses electronically.

He added that the ministry coordinates with all relevant regulatory authorities and conducts intensive surprise inspections of feed stores nationwide. These inspections aim to detect hoarding or price manipulation. Legal measures are taken against violators.

The ministry also intensifies advisory and awareness programs in coordination with the Central Administration for Agricultural Extension, the Animal Production Research Institute, and the Regional Center for Food and Feed. The programs include theoretical seminars followed by practical on-farm workshops. Small farmers are trained in breeding, feeding, and caring for their herds to improve performance and increase economic returns.

Soliman confirmed that livestock beneficiaries under the National Vet Project are closely monitored. Technical support is provided on the ground with the participation of local directorates of agriculture and veterinary services in all governorates.
