Subsidized bread price remains at 20 piasters despite diesel increase

Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, confirmed that the price of subsidized bread will remain stable at 20 piasters per loaf on ration cards, despite the recent increase in diesel prices.

Farouk explained that the ministry’s plans take into account all cost elements and production inputs for manufacturing subsidized bread. This includes the price of diesel within the cost structure, in light of the new petroleum product prices.

He added that the state will continue to cover the difference in production costs and reimburse bakery owners. This ensures the continued distribution of subsidized bread to citizens through ration cards at the set price, without any additional burden on the public.

The confirmation reflects the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade’s commitment to maintaining the stability of the supply system. It also guarantees the regular provision of subsidized bread to citizens across all governorates.
