Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's commitment to enhancing
cooperation with foreign companies to attract more investments, particularly in
green hydrogen and its derivatives. He highlighted Egypt's National Green
Hydrogen Strategy, announced in August 2024, which aims to diversify clean and
sustainable energy sources and reduce carbon emissions in line with
international commitments.
He reaffirmed the Egyptian government's dedication to
removing any obstacles that investors may face in this sector.
The Minister reviewed efforts to establish Egypt as a hub
for green hydrogen production. He noted the launch of the Egypt-Belgium Global
Renewable Hydrogen Forum on the sidelines of COP27. The forum brings together
stakeholders to facilitate the production and use of renewable hydrogen,
contributing to lower carbon emissions.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of collaboration between
Ocior Energy and Egypt's New and Renewable Energy Authority. This partnership
aims to explore investment opportunities and identify suitable locations for
renewable energy projects in Egypt. He also discussed Ocior Energy's plans to
establish a green hydrogen and green ammonia project using solar and wind
energy in the country.
The Minister highlighted Egypt's investment advantages,
including a skilled workforce and a strong industrial base. He also pointed out
the facilities, incentives, and tax and customs exemptions offered for
investments in free industrial zones, especially the Suez Canal Economic Zone,
which boasts robust infrastructure and a strategic location.
