Thousands vie for residential plots in New Obour City

The Egyptian government has conducted the 19th public manual lottery for residential plots in New Obour City, allocating land to citizens who have regularized their status in the former Qadisiya Society and Kilometre 48 areas up to September 18, 2025, Housing Minister Engineer Sherif El-Sherbini announced.

The Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Minister said the draw was held in line with directives from the political leadership, part of a series of "future initiatives" aimed at providing residential, commercial, and housing units in an organised and sustainable manner. He added the move supports the state's policy of achieving urban balance and expanding ownership opportunities for citizens nationwide.

El-Sherbini stressed the need to swiftly regularize the status of landholders and accelerate the legalization procedures to boost development rates in areas newly added to the new cities. He affirmed the continuous efforts to finalize the regularization of citizens and entities located on lands annexed to several new cities, alongside proper planning of land uses in these areas to establish integrated urban communities, in line with the state's sustainable development vision.

The Minister noted that the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) has launched an electronic platform to directly receive and respond to citizen inquiries, streamlining procedures and saving time and effort without the need to visit city authority offices. He explained that infrastructure projects, including water, sanitation, electricity, and roads, are being implemented in parallel to ensure the lands are ready for immediate handover.

The lottery included the allocation of residential plots of varying sizes, ranging between 209 and 500 square meters per plot, reflecting NUCA's commitment to the principles of fairness and transparency in distribution and meeting citizens' needs for appropriate housing in an integrated urban environment.

The draw witnessed a large turnout of citizens who followed the public lottery with excitement and optimism. Attendees received their allocation notices immediately after the procedures concluded. Several participants praised the level of organization and transparency, expressing their confidence in the authority's performance and commitment to their interests.

The 19th draw in New Obour City was attended by Ahmed Ali, NUCA Vice Chairman for Real Estate and Commercial Affairs, along with representatives from NUCA, relevant bodies, and the Head of the New Obour City Authority.
