SCZone Chief showcases investment opportunities to Turkish business leaders

The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) announced the launch of its first promotional roadshow in Turkey, led by Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din. The initiative aims to showcase investment opportunities within the zone and attract leading Turkish companies in priority sectors, particularly textiles and ready-made garments, packaging, building materials, ports, and logistics services.

Gamal El-Din held a roundtable with representatives of the Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Association (İTKİB), the main umbrella body for textile and raw material exports in Turkey, whose members account for nearly half of the country’s total textile exports. He expressed appreciation for the strong partnership with the Turkish business community, noting that SCZONE has already attracted several Turkish projects. These include nine projects in the West Qantara Industrial Zone alone, with total investments of USD 321 million, mostly in textiles and related industries. He also highlighted a USD 2 million logistics project led by a Turkish-Egyptian alliance.

He emphasized that SCZONE offers strong competitive advantages, including direct and indirect investment incentives, skilled labor, competitively priced energy, and access to global markets through free trade agreements. These benefits, he said, enable Turkish companies to localize production within the zone and expand their export reach.

During the visit, the SCZONE Chairman also met with nine Turkish companies: Ugur Plastik, a producer of plastic packaging solutions; Yunsa, Europe’s largest integrated worsted wool fabric manufacturer; Kale Group, a leading Turkish ceramics conglomerate; Vitra, a supplier of high-end furniture and interior solutions; Modern Karton, a paper manufacturer using recycled materials; Nova Foam Solution, a producer of foam used in mattresses, upholstery, and insulation; Fixa, a construction chemicals and waterproofing company; and Mercan Optics and ECB Optics. He underlined the authority’s commitment to supporting these industries, deepening local manufacturing, boosting exports, and strengthening global supply chains.
