Ministry of Industry denies reports of canceled Chinese EV shipping protocol

The Ministry of Industry has denied rumors and social media claims that the "Chinese Shipping Protocol" for electric vehicles has been canceled. The ministry clarified that no official decision on the matter has been issued by any government authority.

The circulated information stemmed from discussions requested by a company in the electric vehicle sector, a practice the ministry said it encourages to address challenges faced by businesses. The issue was discussed at meetings of the Ministerial Group for Industrial Development to evaluate the impact of importing electric vehicles with different charging specifications, both European and Chinese. This assessment aims to create balanced policies that protect domestic industry, maintain market stability, and safeguard consumer rights.

The ministry reiterated that China is a major strategic partner for Egypt in the industrial and transport sectors. Bilateral relations between the two countries are based on solid foundations of mutual respect and common interests and will not be affected by such rumors or inaccurate news.

The Ministry of Industry called on various media outlets to verify the accuracy of information and rely only on official statements issued by it, and not to follow unverified news that could cause confusion or harm Egypt's international relations.

It also stressed that it is moving forward with the implementation of the state's vision for industrial development, with a full commitment to protecting the interests of consumers and supporting the transition to electric vehicles as one of the strategic paths to promote sustainability and preserve the environment.
