Housing Ministry: Seawater desalination capacity in Matrouh reaches 275,000 m³/day

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced that completed seawater desalination plants in Matrouh Governorate have reached a total capacity of 205,000 cubic meters per day, in addition to two plants under construction with a production capacity of 70,000 cubic meters per day. This will bring the governorate’s total desalination capacity to 275,000 cubic meters per day, meeting local drinking water needs.

This came as the minister reviewed progress on the drinking water system in Matrouh, affirming the ministry’s continued efforts to strengthen infrastructure and advance its strategic plan for seawater desalination, particularly in coastal areas.

El-Sherbiny added that the projects under construction include the East Matrouh (Rumaila 4) plant and the Salloum plant.
