Investment minister discusses boosting economic cooperation with Indian ambassador in Cairo

Engineer Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, met with Ambassador Suresh K. Reddy, India’s Ambassador to Cairo, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the economic, trade, and investment fields, as well as to exchange views on opportunities to support future partnerships. The meeting also reviewed several issues of mutual interest.

The minister stressed the depth of the strategic bilateral relations between Egypt and India, rooted in a long history of cooperation across various fields. He highlighted the importance of intensifying efforts to translate these relations into tangible projects that serve the interests of both economies.

El-Khatib noted that the talks addressed opportunities to expand Indian investments in Egypt, strengthen trade cooperation, and open new channels of partnership between the business communities in both countries.

He also outlined Egypt’s investment advantages across production and service sectors, including the availability of skilled labor, engineering expertise, and competitive wages, in addition to the free access of Egyptian products to numerous foreign markets under the free and preferential trade agreements Egypt has signed with major regional and global economic blocs.

For his part, Ambassador Reddy emphasized India’s keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation and open new horizons for partnership between Cairo and New Delhi, underscoring the longstanding ties between the two nations. He also highlighted the significance of the Egyptian market as a key industrial and export hub in the region, and a gateway to Africa.
