Indian Ambassador: Indian companies eager to invest in Egypt

Minister of Industry and Transport, Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, met, Tuesday, with Indian Ambassador to Cairo, Suresh K. Reddy, to explore boosting economic cooperation and investment.

The meeting focused on strengthening partnerships in the industrial and transport sectors, with Al-Wazir highlighting Egypt's welcoming stance towards foreign companies, particularly those interested in renewable energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing.

Reddy described Egypt as a strategic gateway to Africa and Europe, noting that Indian companies already operating in the country have a combined investment of $3.5 billion and plans for further expansion. He added that Indian firms are keen to establish new factories in Egypt to serve as a launchpad to the European market.

The two officials also discussed Egypt's investment climate and government measures to support investors. El Wazir extended an invitation to the Indian ambassador and investors to attend the Industry and Transport Together for Sustainable Development Exhibition in November 2025.

Minister Al-Wazir stated that enhancing industrial cooperation with India is a strategic priority for Egypt, aligning with the country's vision of becoming a regional industrial hub.
