Shimi conducts surprise visit to El-Nasr Automotive Company

Minister of Public Enterprise Sector, Mohamed Shimi, conducted a surprise field visit Saturday morning to the El-Nasr Automotive Company, a subsidiary of the Metallurgical Industries Holding Company. He inspected the company’s factories, production lines, and ongoing development projects.

During his tour, Shimi monitored operations at the bus factory, which produces several models, including the Nasr Sky tourist bus, the Nasr Star mini-bus, and the environmentally friendly, natural gas-powered Nasr Green buses. He stressed the importance of expanding production capacity to meet both domestic market demand and export needs for regional markets.

He also reviewed the final preparations at the passenger car factory, which has undergone comprehensive renovation. This included the installation of new assembly, painting, and welding lines, as part of the ministry's plan to resume production at the factory using the latest international standards.

Shimi met with employees of the El-Nasr Automotive Company, emphasizing that the workforce is the main driver of production and development. He highlighted the ministry’s commitment to improving the work environment and investing in continuous training to boost employees’ technical and administrative skills. The Minister praised their dedication and urged them to intensify efforts and adhere to global quality standards to enhance the company's competitiveness.

He affirmed that El-Nasr Automotive is a symbol of national industry and that the state is committed to revitalizing this strategic industrial stronghold after a long hiatus. He described the company's return to production as a strategic step toward localizing the automotive industry in Egypt and adding significant value to the national economy.

The Minister added that the ministry supports its subsidiaries in increasing local manufacturing and incorporating more domestic components into their products. This effort aligns with the state’s goal of reducing imports and strengthening reliance on national industry, recognizing the automotive sector as a promising area for significant growth.

He instructed El-Nasr's management to boost production rates, ensure the highest levels of quality, and adhere to sustainability standards, along with safety and environmental protection measures. He also urged them to improve the marketing system and after-sales service to meet market demands and global competition, while also strengthening partnerships with the private sector to transfer technology and enhance competitiveness.

Shimi concluded by emphasizing that the relaunch of El-Nasr Automotive is a powerful statement of the state's commitment to preserving and developing its assets. He affirmed that the ministry is moving forward with its plan to restructure and develop its subsidiaries to enhance their contribution to the national economy.
