El-Khatib highlights key investment opportunities in Japan

Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, met with Japanese business leaders in Japan, showcasing Egypt’s economic policies and investment opportunities.

El-Khatib highlighted the deep and evolving ties between Egypt and Japan, built on mutual respect and a shared vision for sustainable development. He emphasized Japan's role as a vital trade partner, noting the significant presence of Japanese companies in key Egyptian sectors such as automotive, energy, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals. This, he said, reflects growing confidence in Egypt's economy and potential.

The Minister underscored the spirit of cooperation and mutual benefit defining bilateral relations. He stated that Japan views Egypt as a gateway to Africa and the Middle East, a strategically important country with a young, ambitious population and bold development goals. Conversely, Egypt sees Japan as a precise, innovative, and long-term visionary partner that values collaboration, discipline, and excellence.

El-Khatib pointed to Egypt's tangible transformation in infrastructure investment over the past decade, paving the way for sustainable and long-term growth. He asserted Egypt's immense potential as a hub for companies seeking to diversify global supply chains, offering stability, competitiveness, and access to regional and global markets.

He detailed Egypt's wide-ranging reform agenda, including monetary policies focused on inflation targeting to bolster macroeconomic stability and real economic growth. Fiscal reforms involve simplifying taxes and reducing non-tax burdens. El-Khatib also noted accelerated digital transformation for company registration and licensing, aiming for faster, simpler, and more transparent processes. In trade, efforts are underway to enhance competitiveness through streamlined customs procedures and reduced clearance times.

Finally, El-Khatib stressed Egypt's commitment to maximizing free trade agreements to ensure effective access to global markets, boost exports, and integrate local industries into global value chains.
