Prime Minister engages global brands to boost investment

Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly met Wednesday at the government headquarters in New Alamein City with representatives of leading international brands, as part of efforts to attract foreign investment and support shopping tourism in Egypt.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population; Claudine Caviac and Ibrahim Sami, strategic partners of major global luxury brands; Major General Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the General Authority for Export and Import Control; Engineer Mohamed El-Gousky, Assistant Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade for Planning, Development, and Digital Transformation; and Dr. Amani Al-Wassal, Head of the Agreements and Foreign Trade Sector at the Ministry of Investment.

Madbouly welcomed the delegates and affirmed Egypt’s interest in collaborating with global luxury brands to establish a stronger presence in the local market, emphasizing the role such brands could play in promoting shopping tourism.

He noted the strength and size of the Egyptian consumer market, pointing out that many Egyptians travel abroad for shopping, while foreign tourists in Egypt increasingly seek access to global brands locally.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the impact of recent economic reforms and the Central Bank’s adoption of a flexible exchange rate policy, which have contributed to stabilizing the foreign currency market and facilitating the flow of foreign capital.

Dr. Abdel Ghaffar reiterated the government’s commitment to attracting international investment, citing the incentives offered to investors, including exemptions under the Euro 1 certification system.

Caviac expressed her appreciation for Egypt’s development and stability, noting her previous visits for both business and leisure. She said she would explore opportunities for global brands to enter the Egyptian market and communicate the findings to relevant international companies, emphasizing her belief in Egypt’s promising investment potential.

She also expressed her ambition to help bring successful global retail models to Egypt and provide a competitive shopping experience for both Egyptians and tourists.

Ibrahim Sami voiced similar interest in investing in Egypt and facilitating the entry of international brands into the market.

At the close of the meeting, Madbouly reaffirmed the government's readiness to work with global brand representatives to implement a roadmap for their presence in Egypt.
