Turkish shipping line ALCOR eyes more Suez Canal trips

Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), recently met with Mohamed El Moselhy, Chairman of Arcas Egypt Shipping Agencies and the Alexandria Chamber of Shipping. El Moselhy was joined by Ali Bikamshi, Head of the ALCOR Shipping Line. The high-level meeting, held at the Guidance Building in Ismailia with several SCA board members present, focused on strategies to significantly increase ALCOR vessels transiting the Suez Canal.

The discussions centered on joint initiatives to attract more oil tankers and dry bulk vessels operating between Europe and Asia to choose the Suez Canal route. Both sides also explored ways to boost ALCOR's voyages through the vital waterway.

Lieutenant General Rabie underscored the SCA's commitment to direct and effective engagement with clients, ensuring their needs are met and adapting flexibly to the dynamic maritime transport market and regional developments. He emphasized prioritizing mutual interests in all dealings.

Rabie highlighted the Suez Canal's success in implementing attractive incentives to encourage ship transits despite ongoing challenges. This includes introducing a comprehensive package of new navigational and logistical services and adopting flexible marketing policies.

The SCA Chairman also promoted the maintenance and repair services offered by the SCA's shipyards and companies to transiting vessels. He particularly welcomed ALCOR Shipping Line's proposal to collaborate with SCA shipyards on maintenance and repair for their vessels.

The head of ALCOR Shipping Line expressed his appreciation for the partnership and friendship with the Suez Canal. He affirmed ALCOR's intention to increase its voyages through the canal and intensify efforts to attract more tankers and bulk carriers operating between Asia and Europe, leveraging the offered maintenance and repair services.

Finally, the Chairman of Arcas Egypt Shipping Agencies praised the Suez Canal's client-focused approach, viewing it as a crucial step for maintaining strategic relations with shipping companies amidst current global challenges. He lauded the SCA's policies to diversify and expand its logistical and maritime services, seeing it as an added draw that enhances the operational efficiency for vessels using the Suez Canal.
