Japanese Ambassador to Cairo Fumio Iwai visited Egypt's National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) where he exchanged views with Dr. Tarek El Houby, , the Head of the NFSA.
The Japanese embassy reported that the meeting focused on
various aspects of joint cooperation between the two nations and clarified the
role of each government agency in ensuring food security and safety. Discussions
also covered ways to further develop bilateral cooperation.
The embassy highlighted that Egypt exports significant
quantities of frozen strawberries to Japan, while Japan sends substantial
amounts of frozen mackerel to Egypt. Both are considered essential food items.
The embassy stressed that with increasing globalization, food security cannot be achieved by one country alone, making close consultation and communication among nations crucial for food safety and security.
