Abdelatty praised the fruitful cooperation between the ministry and the procurement authority, highlighting their effective coordination in deepening health cooperation with African nations. He stressed the ministry's desire for continued collaboration to enhance access for Egyptian medicines in Africa.
The Minister also congratulated Hisham Stait on the
successful "Africa Health Excon" medical conference and exhibition,
held from June 24-27, 2025, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Dr. Abdelatty commended the professional organization and wide participation
from African countries and international organizations, which he attributed to
strong cooperation between government bodies and the private sector.
Abdelatty detailed the ministry's efforts to increase
Egyptian pharmaceutical exports to African markets through bilateral and
multilateral engagement. He referenced a national strategy, developed by the
Permanent Committee for Egyptian-African Relations, which aims to raise the
value of Egyptian drug exports to $5 billion by 2030.
Discussions also touched upon the Authority's goal to
strengthen Egypt's role in the African pooled procurement mechanism, seeking to
establish Egypt as a regional hub for African pooled procurement. This move would
underscore Egypt's pivotal role in the continent's health system. The potential
for boosting medical tourism to Egypt was also explored as an area of
value-added cooperation, aligning with efforts to provide an integrated health
model for African nations.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain close coordination and follow up on strategic priorities to maximize opportunities for Egyptian medicine in Africa and reinforce Egypt's leadership in the continent's health security.
