Prime Minister opens first Bosch factory in Africa, Jumia warehouse

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Saturday inaugurated the first Bosch factory in Egypt and Africa, a subsidiary of the German Bosch Group that produces Bosch home appliances, in 10th of Ramadan City. Madbouly also opened Jumia's largest e-commerce logistics warehouse in Africa, located on the Suez Road. Jumia is a leading technology and e-commerce company on the continent.

During his visit to the Bosch factory, Madbouly was accompanied by Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny, Sharkia Governor Hazem El-Ashmouny, General Authority for Investment and Free Zones CEO Hossam Heiba, Consumer Protection Agency Head Ibrahim El-Seguini, and several BSH Egypt leaders.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber Khalil, and Jumia Egypt CEO Abdellatif Olama accompanied Madbouly on his visit to the Jumia warehouse.

Madbouly emphasized that Egypt prioritizes industrial development, technology, and innovation, viewing them as crucial for economic growth and job creation. He highlighted their role in reducing import reliance, boosting local content, increasing exports, and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products globally, while also empowering startups.

He added that an urgent plan, directed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, has been developed to leverage Egypt's potential as a regional and global industrial and logistics hub. This plan includes simplifying industrial licensing, reducing approval times, offering accessible financing, and providing tax and customs incentives for manufacturers. It also aims to strengthen private sector partnerships, localize technology, foster innovation, and enhance workforce skills.

"Today, we witness new inaugurations that genuinely contribute to the industrial and information technology sectors," Madbouly said. "These are a step towards localizing important industries and strengthening Egypt's industrial and technological position, with significant participation from the private sector, which the state relies on as a fundamental partner in various development projects."
