Awad inspects first phase of El Attaba market development

Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, inspected the ongoing development work on Sunday for the first phase of the development of El Attaba Market in El-Mosky and the upgrade of Al-Asili, Al-Gawhary, and Youssef Naguib streets. The project has relocated street vendors until the completion of the development, upgrading, and painting of several buildings. The cost of the first phase of the project will amount to approximately EGP 38 million, which will be funded from the Ministry of Local Development's investment plan.

The event was attended by Dr. Saeed Helmy, Head of the Strategic Management and Local Development Sector at the Ministry, Engineer Haitham El-Dessouky, Head of the Inspection, Control, and Follow-up Sector at the Ministry, and a number of leaders from both sectors.

Dr. Awad listened to a presentation from Helmy on the implementation status of the utilities and infrastructure projects being implemented in the targeted area, as well as the facade painting of several buildings with distinctive architectural style overlooking Al-Asili, Al-Gawhary, and its extension, and Youssef Naguib streets.

She indicated that the upgrade and replacement of utility networks has been 100% completed. She was also keen to view a model of shop front renovations and the painting of the facades of buildings with architectural character in the area.

Awad met with a number of shop owners on the streets currently undergoing development. They expressed their sincere thanks to the political leadership, the government, and the Ministry of Local Development for their interest in developing the area.

During her conversation with the shop owners, the Minister of Local Development said that God willing, the government would do something good and safe for you, the citizens who frequent the area, and the vendors present on the streets included in the first phase of development. She added that walkways would be created to facilitate movement, expressing hope that the initiative would serve as a successful model that could be replicated on a number of other streets in the area.

At the conclusion of her tour Awad stressed the importance of accelerating the pace of ongoing work to complete all development projects according to the timetable. She also highlighted the importance of upgrading and painting the facades of buildings within the first phase of development, which feature distinctive architectural styles. This should be done in coordination with the Urban Coordination Authority, in a manner consistent with their nature, in line with the urban and aesthetic appearance of the area and the visual identity of the commercial areas.

She stressed the importance of reviewing any visual distortions on the facades of the buildings to be developed, upgrading them, and removing any wires from their facades to preserve their urban and aesthetic appearance after the development work.
