Saad:10% rise in gold, silver making charges

Dr. John Saad, the tax expert, revealed the issuance of a periodic book from the Egyptian Tax Authority, which will lead to a 10% increase in the making charges on gold and silver jewelry, starting from next July

Saad stressed that this increase is annual in accordance with the protocol concluded between the Tax Authority and the divisions of the merchants and makers of gold and silver.

He explained that the average making charge for 21 karat will rise to EGP58.56, while it will reach EGP 87.85 for both 18 karat and 23.5 karat gold.

Saad stated that the decision will result in the increase in making charges, to increase the amount of value -added tax, to reach EGP 8.20 for 21 karat, and to EGP 12.30 for both 18 karat and 23.5 karat  .

The average making charge also increased on silver jewelry, ranging from EGP 11 to EGP 14, according to the bullets, which resulted in the increase in the amounts of value -added tax to range from EGP 1.64 to EGP 2.05. These increases will be applied from July 1 to the end of June 2026.
