Khalda targets June production boost with two new wells

Khalda Petroleum Company plans to bring two new wells into production this June in its concession area, with an initial combined output estimated at approximately 5,400 barrels of crude oil per day. This achievement reflects the positive results consistently delivered by production companies across various concession areas. These efforts align directly with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' strategy to intensify exploration and production and boost domestic crude oil and natural gas output, ultimately meeting the petroleum needs of the state and its citizens.

Khalda Petroleum Company has successfully completed drilling the Fox Deep-02 appraisal well, confirming the presence of oil-bearing layers in the Alam El Bueib and Alamein reservoirs. The oil-bearing section boasts a thickness of 110 feet. Initial tests on the Alam El Bueib layer alone revealed a production rate of approximately 2,600 barrels of crude oil per day.

Technical tests for the well are scheduled for completion this June, followed by the installation of the artificial lift pump, in preparation for production. Additionally, Khalda Petroleum Company completed drilling the Tayim-W14 development well, targeting the Desouqy layer at the top of the reservoir. Drilling revealed an oil-bearing layer up to 57 feet thick.

Initial tests on the Desouqy layer showed a production rate of approximately 2,800 barrels of crude oil per day. This well is also expected to begin production this June, after tests and pump installation are complete.

These promising results stem from the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' ongoing efforts to develop discovered fields and expedite their connection to production. This strategy aims to enhance domestic energy market stability and reduce import costs.
