EDA cooperates with Sanofi to deliver vital medicines

Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), met with a Sanofi delegation at the EDA headquarters in Mansouria to discuss enhancing joint cooperation. Key topics included localizing the pharmaceutical industry in Egypt and ensuring the continued availability of strategic medicines. The Sanofi delegation included Dr. Adrien Delamare-Deboutteville, Chairman of Sanofi for Egypt and Africa, and Dr. Maged Sayed, Africa Market Access and Government Affairs Director.

The meeting addressed Sanofi's products and operations in Egypt, future localization plans, and the recommendations from the French President's visit to Egypt. Discussions also included following up on the outcomes of the Prime Minister's meeting with company officials and previous talks with the Minister of Trade and Industry concerning support for the pharmaceutical sector.

During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership between the EDA and Sanofi. The goal is to balance the accessibility of vital medicines with ensuring their availability for Egyptian citizens. They also affirmed continued joint efforts within the framework of Egypt's strategy to localize the pharmaceutical industry and achieve pharmaceutical sustainability.

This meeting is a testament to the EDA's dedication to supporting innovation and implementing flexible mechanisms in market access policies. Such initiatives are vital for elevating the quality of healthcare and enhancing Egypt's strategic position as a regional hub for both pharmaceutical manufacturing and export.
