Cabinet spokesperson Counselor Mohamed El Homosany stated that the recent decision regarding halal certification, following Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly's announcement of facilitations at the Egyptian-American Economic Forum, directs the Ministry of Agriculture to diversify and expand the number of authorized entities issuing halal certificates. This initiative is designed to enhance market competition and provide increased opportunities for the private sector.
El Homosany also noted that complaints had been received
concerning this issue. Consequently, the government will allow an increase in
the number and variety of these certifying companies. Furthermore, a review
will be conducted to potentially reduce the fees for assessing the compliance
of exporting food products and establishments that require halal certification.
This measure is anticipated to lower these fees, thereby reducing the final
cost of goods for citizens. These actions are part of the government's ongoing
facilitations across diverse sectors.
