He clarified that the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance
Fund has provided ample opportunity for all applicants to complete their
paperwork as per the terms and conditions. This included an initial
appeals' period for those not meeting requirements or unable to register
but who paid earnest money between March 23rd and April 24th, 2025. A
subsequent two-week extension, from May 4th to May 18th, 2025, specifically
addressed rejections due to electricity meter ownership. Out of 13,413
additional appeals filed based on Ministry of Electricity data, 6,630 were
accepted and 6,783 were rejected.
Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing and Mortgage
Finance Fund, stated that submitted appeals are being reviewed promptly to
ensure a quick response and inform each citizen of their final status. She
added that applicants will have until the end of the appeals' period, plus an
additional week, as a final opportunity to respond and complete any outstanding
documentation.
The CEO of the Social Housing Fund noted that 3,718 clients
who registered during the appeals' period—having previously paid earnest money
but missed the initial registration—are being screened to determine
eligibility. An additional appeals' window will open for ineligible clients
from May 21st to May 25th, 2025.
She further mentioned that more details are available on the
Fund's social media platforms.
