Egypt sees significant rise in women's financial inclusion

The Council of Ministers announced, Friday, a substantial increase in financial inclusion among women in Egypt, attributing the progress to initiatives promoting the use of formal financial services.

According to the Council, the financial inclusion rate for women reached 68.8% by the end of December 2024, representing a 295% growth compared to the rate in 2016. This signifies that approximately 23.3 million women aged 15 and older now have access to financial services and own transaction accounts, out of a total of 33.9 million women in this age group.

Statistics also revealed the growing popularity of the "Tahwisha" digital savings and lending groups project, with approximately 246,400 women participating through the electronic application by December 2024.

The Council further highlighted that awareness and education efforts have reached approximately 209,000 women within savings groups and an additional 102,500 women outside of these groups.
