Air Liquide Egypt and United Energy Group (UEG) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop major green and sustainable energy projects in Egypt. This partnership aims to evaluate and develop projects, particularly in the field of low-carbon ammonia production based on green hydrogen.

The UEG Group actively pursues the development of renewable energy projects worldwide, with a particular focus on Egypt. Thanks to its robust renewable energy resources and unique ecosystem, Egypt is uniquely positioned to become a leader in the renewable energy sector.

UEG Group is involved in building strong ecosystems with leading institutions in the industrial sector. The UEG is involved in building strong ecosystems with leading institutions in the industrial sector. Building on its strong presence in Egypt and its technological expertise in the energy transition, Air Liquide will support UEG in developing renewable energy-based ammonia production, particularly by providing nitrogen for the project and participating in the development of solutions to mitigate challenges related to renewable energy and produce competitively value-added ammonia.

It's worth noting that Air Liquide has been operating in Egypt since 2002 and already serves a wide range of clients across various industrial sectors, including metals, glass, petrochemicals, food and beverages, and more. This agreement allows us to leverage Air Liquide's strong expertise in developing technologies for low-carbon manufacturing.

“This collaboration with Air Liquide is a major step forward for UEG in our efforts to implement green hydrogen projects in Egypt,” said Jiu Xiaodong, Vice President and Head of Hydrogen at UEG. “By combining our local resources with Air Liquide’s leading capabilities and infrastructure in Egypt, we are well-positioned to develop green ammonia production plants in the region. We look forward to working closely with Air Liquide to turn our vision into reality and fulfill our commitment to Egypt’s green hydrogen ambition.”

“We are delighted to join the UEG Group as a strategic partner, which aligns with our sustainability ambitions,” said Brian Shetty, General Manager of Air Liquide Egypt. “As part of this partnership, Air Liquide will leverage its world-class technologies and expertise to support Egypt’s energy transition. This collaboration represents a significant step towards developing sustainable energy solutions and contributing to achieving Egypt’s renewable energy goals.”
