El-Sisi directs Madbouly's new cabinet to boost economy, reduce debt

Immediately after the House of Representatives approved the cabinet reshuffle of Dr. Moustafa Madbouly’s government, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed the new government to implement a series of directives.

The presidential directives included achieving the set objectives in the fields of national security and foreign policy, economic development, production, energy and food security, and human development and community building.

The President instructed each ministry to develop a plan outlining targets, procedures, implementation timelines, required funding, and performance indicators, all subject to continuous monitoring and evaluation.

The directives also emphasized the need for the economic team to prioritize the ongoing improvement of the economic situation. This will involve the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs in the new government in developing future plans, coordinating among members, ensuring alignment in their responsibilities, and monitoring performance, particularly as the cooperation program with the International Monetary Fund approaches its conclusion at the end of this year.

He also directed efforts to reduce public debt through carefully studied new measures, ensuring the soundness of procedures and positive impact in both the short and long term.

The President called for the continued implementation of the State Ownership Policy through tangible steps and for increasing private sector participation in the economy.

He also tasked the government with entering new sectors to support the economy, especially technology, rare earth minerals, and related industries, while encouraging innovation and funding its research and practical applications.

The presidential directives included the sustainable enhancement of the education system in all its aspects, as well as greater attention to citizens’ health and access to medical treatment.

The directives also highlighted upholding the values of citizenship, equality, and non-discrimination, and encouraging public participation through transparent procedures that meet citizens’ aspirations. This includes completing the constitutional requirement for local councils to enable popular participation in monitoring local administrative units and ensuring their performance.

President El-Sisi stressed the utmost importance of public opinion, calling for continuous awareness through a national media capable of reaching all segments of Egyptian society. The media should deliver professional and responsible coverage, fostering collective awareness in the face of challenges and the spread of rumors, promoting a culture of constructive dialogue, developing critical thinking skills, and encouraging respect for the opinions of others.
