The project is the first of its kind in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa to establish a factory specialized in producing chlorine tablets and granules. This represents a qualitative leap in the chemical industry and contributes to the localization of a strategic sector with high added value.
Shimi emphasized that the project is a significant addition
to the chemical industries sector, enhancing Egypt’s regional and international
standing. It also contributes to increasing exports, reducing the import bill,
and supporting the competitiveness of Egyptian products in global markets. The
project aligns with Egypt 2030 Vision for Sustainable Development by promoting
industrial localization and maximizing foreign currency resources, with the
majority of production slated for export, especially as key raw materials are
sourced from existing facilities within Egypt.
The project is being implemented by Puridive Chemicals
Production Company (the project company), a joint venture between the Holding
Company for Chemical Industries, Misr Chemical Industries Company, and Cadence
Energy from the private sector. This reflects a successful model of integrating
government expertise with private investment. The project involves investments
of approximately $39 million and aims to produce 10,000 tons annually of
chlorine tablets and granules (TCCA) and 10,000 tons of cyanuric acid. These
products are used for disinfecting swimming pools, water treatment,
sterilization, as well as industrial applications in paper and textile
processing. The project will also produce 18,000 tons annually of anhydrous
ammonium sulfate, a high-quality agricultural fertilizer, supporting the
agricultural sector and boosting local production.
The project implementation contract was signed with the
Chinese company Capsum, renowned for its expertise in designing and
constructing chemical granule and tablet production plants. Financing
agreements were signed with the National Bank of Egypt and the Commercial
International Bank.
The meeting was attended by Chemist Saad Helal, Managing
Director of the Holding Company for Chemical Industries; Major General Mahmoud
Ashmawy, Managing Director of Misr Chemical Industries Company; Dr. Magdy
Galal, CEO and Managing Director of Cadence Energy; along with senior officials
from the Ministry of Public Business Sector and Puridive Chemicals Production
Company.
