Egypt promotes private sector growth, global economic partnerships

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly met this evening with Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, to review and follow up on several work files.

During the meeting, the Finance Minister presented the results of his participation today via video conference with 250 senior Turkish investors at the Egyptian-Turkish Chambers of Commerce meeting in New Alamein City. The meeting highlighted the strong partnership and excellent bilateral relations between the Egyptian and Turkish private sectors and outlined the main elements of the government’s plans to increase private sector investments, improve economic performance, and develop financial policies more supportive of industrial, productive, and export activities.

The minister also reviewed key developments from meetings he held on the sidelines of the annual sessions of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. He noted that these meetings focused on Egypt’s efforts to achieve economic growth, promote attractive investment opportunities, particularly in energy technology and sustainable projects, provide incentives for investors, and share successful experiences of cooperation with international financial institutions and global partners to advance public-private partnership projects.

Kouchouk also highlighted Egypt’s leadership role in chairing the work of the international committee responsible for drafting the United Nations Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation in New York. He noted the appointment of Ramy Youssef, Assistant Minister of Finance for Tax Policies, to lead this high-level committee. He described this step as a reflection of the international community’s confidence in Egyptian expertise, noting that Egypt’s participation strengthens its role as a pivotal player in laying the foundations for a comprehensive international treaty, with final recommendations expected to be submitted to the United Nations General Assembly by July 2027.

The minister further pointed to the continued positive impact of the Hewar platform, launched in February 2023 through joint coordination between the Ministry of Finance and the Information and Decision Support Center of the Cabinet. He described it as the largest communication channel between the government and citizens, creating an interactive environment across all segments of Egyptian society and supporting public policy-making. He added that the initiator of a distinguished community initiative submitted through the Hewar platform, which provides an innovative mechanism to reduce multiple company budgets and facilitate access to financing, was honored. The initiative has been directed for study to explore ways to implement it and integrate it into the comprehensive tax reform system, emphasizing that the ideas of citizens and specialists are key partners in developing government work.
