Badawi: Egyptian infrastructure to facilitate gas supply to Syria

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, met with Syrian Minister of Energy, Mohammed Al-Bashir, on the sidelines of the International Mining Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This meeting follows up on high-level discussions held in Cairo earlier last week during a visit by a Syrian oil delegation, which resulted in the signing of two memoranda of understanding for cooperation in the energy sector.

Badawi emphasized the deep historical ties between the two countries and their peoples, and Egypt's commitment to supporting cooperation with Syria in the energy field. He stressed the importance of integrated efforts between the two sides to expedite the implementation of the memoranda of understanding, particularly through Egyptian infrastructure to supply gas to Syria.

For his part, Al-Bashir commended Egypt's efforts and the swift coordination that led to the signing in Cairo last week. He affirmed his country's appreciation for Egypt's position and its aspiration to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector in the coming period.
