The Prime Minister emphasized that the opening of this project reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing food security, supporting local food industries, ensuring the availability of essential commodities, and increasing exports from this vital sector. He noted that the state places great importance on developing this key sector and encouraging projects that contribute to raising added value and utilizing local agricultural resources.
Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the
SCZone, said the factory represents a significant addition to the food industry
system within the SCZone. He explained that it strengthens agricultural supply
and processing chains and contributes to integrating the value chain from
agricultural production to processing and distribution, thereby supporting
national food security and improving the efficiency of supply and production
chains in the sector.
He added that the SCZone continues to attract investments in
the food industry by supporting projects that rely on local agricultural
production and employ the latest manufacturing technologies. He said this
approach helps reduce waste, maximize resource utilization, create direct and
indirect job opportunities, and strengthen the SCZone’s position as a hub for
high-quality investments in the food sector.
Madbouly listened to a presentation by Ahmed Antar, Chairman
of the Board of Mexicano Food Industries. Antar explained that the factory
specializes in producing crushed yellow corn flour, occupies an area of 4,200
square meters, and was established with investments of 5 million US dollars. He
noted that the factory’s annual production capacity reaches 60,000 tons and
contributes to providing key production inputs for the food industry. He added
that the project provides approximately 50 direct jobs and another 50 indirect
job opportunities.
During the visit, the Prime Minister inquired about the factory’s
export volume. Ahmed Antar replied that 70 percent of production is exported,
while 30 percent is supplied to the local market. He added that a shipment of
products is being prepared for export to Jordan.
