Egyptian Ambassador to Japan Ragui El-Etreby met with Koichi Matsushima, President of YKK Corporation, to discuss the Japanese giant’s plans to expand its industrial footprint in Egypt between 2025 and 2028.

YKK, a global leader in garment components, reviewed its operations in Egypt dating back to 1979. The company outlined its strategy to inject new investment over the next three years to increase production lines and operational capacity. Discussions also covered sustainability programs and global supply chain development.

Ambassador El-Etreby highlighted the growing opportunities within Egypt’s garment sector, noting that several international firms have recently relocated their production to the country. He showcased current business incentives, particularly within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and various industrial hubs.

The two sides agreed to maintain coordination to finalize proposed investment tracks and arrange technical meetings with relevant Egyptian authorities.
