Financial discipline must not hurt economy or citizens, says Kouchouk

Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk held an open discussion with senior leaders from the Accounts Sector and Financial Directorates nationwide, delivering several key messages on fiscal policy and public service.

"We work for the people and our goal is to serve them," Kouchouk stated. "I will not be happy achieving financial discipline at the expense of the country's economic activity or the citizen."

The Minister urged the financial leaders to support all government bodies to ensure they perform their roles optimally. "Deal with flexibility and balance," he advised. "All state bodies must feel you are supporting them. Perform your role easily and without complications, help your colleagues, and use all your authorities to advance the provision of better services to citizens."

Kouchouk also stressed the importance of continuing to work with a single team spirit to achieve a qualitative leap that everyone can feel.

Addressing the leaders of the Financial Directorates, he said: "Your responsibility extends to future generations. Work on continuously developing your performance."

He added that while spending efficiency is crucial, the more important goal is increasing state resources sustainably. He noted that the Ministry is working to increase allocations for health, education, social protection, essential services, and technological transformation.

The Minister indicated that the coming period will give advanced priority to developing local resources flexibly and efficiently. He also emphasized the urgent need to finalize the review and approval of the remaining specialized regulations for private funds and accounts.

Ahmed Haridy, Head of the Accounts and Financial Directorates Sector, responded by saying that serving the people is a trust they bear. He promised that the next phase would witness a significant improvement in performance, with officials acting with greater balance and flexibility to support all state agencies. Haridy added that they would focus on strong investment in human capital to create a generation more capable of achieving their objectives.
