Fitch predicts 1.3% growth in wheat production

Fitch Ratings forecasts a 1.3% increase in Egypt's wheat production for the upcoming season, according to a statement from the Cabinet's media center.

Fitch attributed this expected growth to the state's efforts to expand wheat cultivation projects. These efforts include:

The Toshka El-Kheir project, which cultivates approximately 322,000 feddans (acres) of wheat.

The East Oweinat project, covering 203,000 feddans of wheat.

The Future of Egypt project, which plants around 80,000 feddans, in addition to other initiatives.

Fitch also noted that government incentives are contributing to encouraging farmers to plant wheat. The most prominent incentives highlighted are: raising the guaranteed procurement price for the current season to EGP 2,350 per ardeb, ensuring a fair profit margin for farmers, and providing high-quality, certified seeds at reasonable prices.
